What makes an award-winning business?
In 2018 Driver Hire won the bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Bronze award. This is the fifth time Driver Hire has won an award in this particular category.
According to the British Franchise Association (bfa) award winners in this particular category are “franchisors demonstrating excellence in franchising by providing a strong infrastructure and support for its network, ensuring franchisees have the best environment to succeed and reach their full potential.”
As part of the award submission, each finalist is filmed on the day of judging to share their success stories and help illustrate what makes an award-winning franchise or franchisee.
Here is Driver Hire’s mini video clip providing an insight into their recent successes:
A transcript of the video:
Graham Duckworth: It’s been a record-breaking year for Driver Hire. The network turnover is up to £107m. That’s up 7%. Average franchisee turnover is up to £1.2m and that’s up 10% on last year. It means, as a result of that, is that average franchisee net profits are now around £140k.
Jeremy Neale: We do run a very franchisee centric approach. National Accounts is a good example of this, four of our most recent National Account wins came from referrals from franchisees, and those four accounts alone are up £1.4m this year.
Graham: This year we had particularly strong [survey] results, 95% of the people who responded said that they were proud to work for or represent Driver Hire. We’re keen to work with the local community, and this year we ‘ve been working with a local school, called Dixons City Academy to help educate all their year 11 students. So 165 students received one-to-one support with their CV writing, they had mock job interviews and then we provide verbal and written feedback.
Jeremy: We run a national sales competition for our hundred offices every year, we do it by means of internet TV. We connect all the offices together and have competitions to see who can make the most sales, appointments and then convert the most of those appointments into customers. So, it’s a way of us helping our franchisees to build strong teams around them.
