A huge welcome to our new Driver Hire East London franchisee
Richard Pugh has recently completed the purchase of Driver Hire’s East London franchise. He’s no stranger to the business, opening the office as a brand new venture in 2007 and then running it on a joint venture basis with Driver Hire ever since.

Driver Hire’s CEO Chris Chidley (L) presents Richard Pugh (R) with an award at the Driver Hire 2016 Winter Conference.
“I decided it was time to go it alone for a variety of reasons,” says Richard. “Primarily the success I’ve enjoyed over the past nine years has put me into a strong enough position financially to buy the business outright. Longer term, owning the business 100% means I’ll have a more valuable asset to sell. And, of course, as sole franchisee, the rewards for future business success will all go to me.”
Over the past nine years Richard has enjoyed a consistent level of growth. Currently 30% up on same time last year, Richard and his team are heading for an all-time record trading performance in the current financial year.
Graham Duckworth, Driver Hire’s Franchise Sales Director added: “Richard adds a lot to the network and is always generous with his advice and support. Coupled with his drive and determination to succeed, it’s culminated in him winning this year’s Driver Hire Award for Endeavour, which he collected at this year’s Driver Hire Winter Conference. Richard is a great example of what franchising is all about and, if his past performance is anything to go by, is all set to continue his outstanding record of success.”
Kasia Baldwin, Driver Hire’s Franchise Marketing Manager goes on to add: “Throughout his time at Driver Hire, Richard has seen the value of the Driver Hire brand and the support available. Making the decision to become a franchisee clearly illustrates his confidence on the further levels of success he can attain in the coming years. It’s great to see him take that step to achieve his goals.”
