Solihull a haven for prospective business owners
Solihull has been named as one of the best places in the UK in which to start a business, thebusinessdesk.com reports.
Whilst many prospective business owners seek out the bright lights of London as they look to get the operation off the ground, new claims have said that they may be just as well off – if not more so – heading to the West Midlands town of Solihull.
High street bank Santander has already placed Solihull in its top three towns in the UK for encouraging enterprise. Now, it has gained attention for the schemes local authorities have put in place – with the aim of helping start-ups navigate the oft-fatal first two years.
These schemes include ‘Enterprise for Success’, which offers free help to start-ups and those looking to start a franchise in order to help them make the aspirations into reality. Elsewhere, help is offered to SMEs on creating business plans, finding premises and accessing relevant training.
New business owners are also kept in the loop when it comes to new funding schemes to ensure they are aware of what could be available to them. These schemes, such as the £30 million loan funding outlined in the recent Budget, may otherwise pass by those who would be entitled to claim them.
Speaking after the commendations, local councillor Ian Courts told freshbusinessthinking.com: “The economy is driven by new business starts and there is a whole range of support available to tap into.
“The recent Budget announcements regarding funding for young entrepreneurs is excellent news and proves that now is an excellent time to get in touch and explore the opportunities and support available through the Enterprise for Success programme.”
