Confidence and expertise crucial when starting a business
Whether deciding to start a franchise or new business, entrepreneurs must have the confidence and expertise needed to do so.
That’s the advice of Jeanne Yocum, the writer of blog that focuses on the small business world. She spoke to Businessinsider.com about the qualities needed to start a new business or enterprise. “You have to feel confident you can do it,” she explained.
“It comes at different times for different people,” she added, suggesting it isn’t a decision people should rush into. In order to build this expertise, it was also suggested that people look at the mistakes their current employer is making; recognising how they could do it better out on their own.
“If you are questioning the decisions on a routine basis, you may want to go out and see if your way is better,” Yocum advised.
However no matter what their confidence level, if those hoping to start a franchise or new company don’t have a thirst for knowledge, they may not succeed. That’s the opinion of fellow business expert Gary Shouldis, who shared is thoughts with Glassdoor.com.
He revealed that entrepreneurs must be able to continually grow as a person and develop their skills; adding that start-ups don’t always have a ready-made marketing or finance department.
“The ones that will do it well are always interested in learning new things and are always trying to better themselves,” Shouldis concluded.
